Artist Biography
I was born in Vilnius, Lithuania, Northern Europe.
Graduated from Vilnius Academy of Arts in 2002.
Juried international, group, museum and gallery exhibitions in USA, UK, Italy, Portugal, Israel, The Netherlands, Lithuania, etc.
I work mainly in painting (oil on canvas) as well as in video painting/drawing. So I am always between old and new; between oil, brushes, canvas, paper and digital world.
I paint and paint again layer on layer until I see the desired colors. Therefore, my paintings is rich in color and texture. The texture of oil paint is so thick, that it is even possible to touch the surface of the painting and feel the movements of brush strokes.
By making videos I make something between poetry and painting/drawing, something between painting/drawing and video, something between old and new (from oil on canvas or pencil on paper to digital moving image), ''telling'' stories by images instead of words, ''writing'' them on a screen instead on a sheet of paper.
Since 2008 I am under pseudonym Painter Coded, currently along with my real name as Painter Coded (Ruta Bauzyte-Jarosz).
