Artist Biography
EDMUND'S first foray into the arts occurred at the age of seven as he watched and listened to the soundtrack of the American TV show Peter Gunn. It was that Henri Mancini jazz sound track and theme song with its incredible alto saxophone solo which got his attention. His dream was born; to be able to play that solo and live his life as an artist bathed in creativity, self-expression and improvisation. He began playing the saxophone at seven and continued through his collegiate years playing Jazz. After a long hiatus for a professional career of Dentistry, in the mid 1980s, Grant pursued the visual arts and taught himself to paint.

Presently, Edmund is an internationally collected, critically acclaimed, award-winning artist who has been immersed in his craft for thirty years. He lives and paints in the Napa Valley . His extensive exhibitions include shows in many major USA cities including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas and New York, and internationally -- Milan, Chianciano Terme, London, Monte Carlo, Florence, Venice, Tel Aviv and Paris. He has been represented by such galleries as the famed Vorpal Gallery of San Francisco and presently has representation in Manhattan and London.

After his solo show "Jazzland and Other Stories " in June of 2013 held at the Napa Valley Museum in conjunction with the late iconic, world famous, jazz trumpeter Miles Davis artwork solo show,"Art of Cool", Edmund received gallery representation in Manhattan. Among his numerous awards are the Leonardo Award, First Prize in Painting, the top honor at the International Biennale of Chianciano 2015 and the Leonardo Award for Digital Art at the Chianciano Award 2012, "Art of the Mind " both held at the Chianciano Museum of Art in Tuscany. Edmund’s works have been exhibited along with some of the world’s top galleries at many prestigious art fairs, including The LA Art Show, Art Aspen, Art Monaco and Concept Art Fair-Miami during Art Basel week.

During 2015, Edmund was honored to produce an art label and limited edition lithograph for the 2014 vintage for the famed Napa valley cult winery Amuse Bouche. Edmund joins an elite group of artists who have produced labels and lithographs for the brand including LeRoy Nieman, WayneThiebaud, George Rodrique of Blue Dog fame, Guy Buffet, Steve Kaufman (Andy Warhol’s protégé), Ira Yeager and Hollywood legend Tony Curtis. Edmund’s paintings were the featured artworks at the Napa Valley Film Festival 2015, 2016, and 2017. Additionally, his work can be found in numerous books, catalogues and publications including the juried German art book Internationale Kunst Heute 2014 , 2015 and 2018. and a critical essay by world renown art historian, art critic Edward Lucie-Smith.

Robert P. Metzger PhD. art historian, art critic and past Director Emeritus of the Reading Museum of Pennsylvania experiences Grant’s work to be “…hauntingly compelling narrative paintings (which) are psychologically edgy and expressionistic…” while world renowned art historian Edward Lucie-Smith calls Edmund a “ powerfully original visual artist”.
